This dataset is split into two files. "Thermal_characteristics_beforeEE.csv" includes thermal characteristics data of dwellings in 2018 before considering energy efficiency measures. "Thermal_characteristics_afterEE.csv" includes thermal characteristics data of dwellings in 2018 after considering energy efficiency measures. Each file includes the following data for all the Lower Layer Super Output Areas (LSOA) in England and Wales: column 1 - "LSOA_code" - The LSOA code where the dwellings are located. column 2 - "Local Authority" - The local authority where the dwellings are located. column 3 - "Region" - The region where the dwellings are located. column 4 - "Dwelling forms" - Specify the dwelling forms of the dwellings (e.g., flat, semi-detached, terraced or detached). This information was derived from the Census data from 2011. It was not used in our analysis. column 5 - "Heating systems" - Specify the heating systems used in the dwellings (e..g, gas boiler, resistance heating, oil boiler or biomass boiler). This information was derived from the Census data from 2011. It was not used in our analysis. column 6 - "Average thermal capacity kJ/K" - The average thermal capacity of the dwellings. column 7 - "Average thermal losses kW/K" - The average thermal losses of the dwellings. column 8 - "Number of dwellings" column 9 - "Average annual heat demand kWh" - The average annual heat demand of the dwellings. column 10 - "Average floor area m2" - The average total floor area of the dwellings. column 11 - "Thermal capacity level" - The level of thermal capacity of the dwellings from SAP 2012 used to estimate the average thermal capacity. column 12 - "Outdoor air design temperature degreeC" - The design temperature used to estimate the size of the heating systems required.
