This folder contains the ELUM chronosequence soils data. 70 UK field sites over a wide geographic area were visited once each to give high spatial resolution soil carbon data. At each site paired-site approach was adopted, whereby two fields were sampled at each site, the pre-existing bioenergy crop and a nearby control field (representing the original/pre-existing land use). Sampling of soil carbon was conducted down to two depths, 30 cm and 1 m for both the bioenergy and control fields. There is a report on "Chronosequence methodology approaches in literature, including specific recommendations for sampling for ELUM" available at http://data.ukedc.rl.ac.uk/simplebrowse/edc/renewables/bioenergy/ELUM/reports/ELUM_research_review_methodology_approaches.pdf Folder contents: data_description_chronosequence_soils_data.pdf = Data description for soils data. Includes column headings, units, descriptions and calculation method / details. SRC_Misc_100cm_SoilC.csv = Soil data for short rotation coppice (SRC) and Miscanthus for 0 - 100cm depth samples. SRC_Misc_30cm_SoilC.csv = Soil data for short rotation coppice (SRC) and Miscanthus for 0 - 30 cm depth samples.
