The Impact of Brine Production on Aquifer Storage project was funded by the Energy Technologies Institute (ETI) and carried out by Heriot-Watt University, Element Energy, T2 Petroleum Technology and Durham University. The project is known as "Aquifer Brine" for short. Aquifer Brine assessed the modeled impact of removing brine from potential undersea carbon dioxide stores on store capacity and costs. It followed on from the UK Storage Appraisal Project (see http://ukerc.rl.ac.uk/DC/cgi-bin/edc_search.pl?WantComp=152). Directory contents: Cost_Benefit_Analyis_Tool : an Excel model which is a brine production cost benefit analysis tool and the supporting report (PDF) containing documentation and results. Geological_Models : geological simulation models (which require proprietary software) for the Bunter Aquifer, the Forties Aquifer, the depleted Hamilton gas field, a generic box model and a synthetic tilted aquifer model. This directory contains a README file (PDF) describing the simulation model files. Reports: final project report including methods and results (brine_production_final_report.pdf), interim project report assessing study sites and models (brine_production_sites_and_model_assessment_report.pdf).
